The South Dakota State Society (SDSS) of Washington, D.C., was formed in 1954 as an opportunity for native and adopted South Dakotans in the greater Washington metropolitan area to share their common bond and the spirit of our great State. Although it had been inactive since 1982, the group was revived in 2008 and has become a beacon for South Dakotans living in Washington, D.C. We’ve continued to keep a robust membership and provide resources for South Dakotans through monthly meetings and signature events.
Each inauguration the State Society hosts a wonderful reception for all our South Dakotans visiting Washington, D.C. This year, we are delighted to hold "Celebration South Dakota" in honor of those visiting Washington during inauguration weekend. Celebration South Dakota is a cocktail reception, held January 19, 2017, from 7-10 p.m. at Bistro Bistro in Dupont Circle. Tickets for the event will cover a premium open bar package and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
We hope you can join us for an evening celebrating our commonalities as South Dakotans and toasting to the values which unite us; a great love for our Rushmore State.
